Racial Justice, Equality & Diversity
At St. Joseph’s, we are committed to promoting Racial Justice, Equality, and Diversity (RJED) across all aspects of learning. Our subject leads actively seek opportunities to make meaningful links to RJED within their planning, helping pupils understand its relevance throughout the curriculum.
In RE lessons, pupils explore different depictions of Jesus, Mary, and other religious figures from around the world, as well as a variety of religious festivals. They also visit different places of worship, such as synagogues and mosques, in line with their learning in Branch 6 of the RE curriculum. Music, art, library books and focus texts in English lessons further support pupils in understanding and celebrating cultural diversity. In Science, pupils learn about a wide range of scientists from diverse backgrounds, helping them see the contributions of people from all cultures and communities.
Through these opportunities, children develop empathy, respect, and an appreciation for different perspectives, helping them grow as socially aware, inclusive, and thoughtful members of society.
